Rules
General Flash Exchange ethos applies:
- Creators do their best to produce a gift their recipient will be happy with. (But if something accidentally happens, rejecting a gift with no hard feelings is always okay.)
- Not everyone is guaranteed to get a fic, but the mod will do their best to find Pinch Hitters
Important Notes
- If you include more than 5 DNWs, then the ones listed after the limit will be deleted.
- If you include more than 10 Likes/Prompts, then the ones past the limit will be deleted.
- If you don't match on Offers (meaning: you have no one to write for when sign-ups end) your sign up will be deleted.
Nominations
You can nominate up to 10 fandoms, 10 relationships per fandom, and 20 freeforms.
On Fandoms
- Break up umbrella fandoms. This means you should nominate Black Panther, Thor Movies, Captain Marvel, etc. instead of Marvel Cinematic Universe; Star Wars Prequel/Original/Sequel Trilogies instead of Star Wars All Media Types, etc.
If there’s an umbrella fandom where combining is easier for everyone involved, drop a note about it on this post.
- Original Fiction is allowed. Nominate it under the fandom “Original Works” and disambiguate with either (Original Works) or (OW).
- RPF is allowed as long as all parties are famous in their own right and 18+. Nominate in whatever the relevant RPF fandom is.
- Crossovers are allowed. Please nominate them as “Crossover: [Fandom 1]/[Fandom 2]” in alphabetical order (your choice if ‘a’ and ‘the’ at the beginning count). Examples: “Crossover: Supergirl TV/Wonder Woman - Jenkins Movies”, “Crossover: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy/Star Wars Sequel Trilogy”, “Crossover: The Goblin Emperor/A Memory Called Empire”.
On Relationships
- You may only nominate & relationships. You may not nominate / relationships. This means that if you nominate “Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (Captain America)”, it will be rejected. If you nominate “Steve Rogers & Bucky Barnes (Captain America)”, your mod will be quite happy and it will be accepted.
- “[Character] & Any” is allowed so long as you really do mean any other character in that fandom. If you’d prefer a subset, you must write that into the tag—or just nominate every variation you’re interested in! (examples: Adora & Any Princess of Power (She-Ra 2018), Miles Morales & Any (Into the Spider-Verse))
- Disambiguate your nominations! If your nomination isn’t disambiguated, it won’t be accepted! [As nominations go on, it may even be rejected.] (examples: “Rey & Finn (SWST)”, “Clint Barton & Natasha Romanoff (Avengers)”, “Jin Lin & Lan Jingyi & Lan Sizhui & Ouyang Zizhen (The Untamed)”)

On Freeforms
- Freeforms do not have to be canonical, but need to be nominated in the tagset to be used in your sign-up.
- Freeforms should be focused on friendship.
- If you nominate a general tag, it may be changed to a friendship-focused tag. For instance, if you nominate “Hurt/Comfort”, it may be changed to “Comforting a friend after they’ve been hurt”.
- Tags such as “Friends with Benefits” are acceptable, but don’t use them to go “I only want porn and don’t care about the friendship bit”; that’s against the spirit of this exchange.
Gifts
- Gifts should be focused on friendship.
- Written gifts have a minimum word-count of 300 words.
- Art gifts should be at least a clean sketch on unlined paper.
- Gifts need to be for one of the fandoms and freeform tags requested, but do not need to be for the exact combination you matched on.
- Gifts must abide by DNWs.
- Fics about friends who have sex are allowed IF REQUESTED but if you write an E-rated fic or only tag an / relationship the mod is going to be checking to make sure that was requested!
Matching
This exchange will match on medium (Fic or Art), Fandom and one Freeform tag.
Yes, this means that Relationships are an optional detail.
Optional Details are Optional
Likes are optional details.
Relationship tags are optional details.
DNWs are not optional. Respect your recipient’s DNWs.
Your writer must (1) write you a story of at least 300 words or draw a clean sketch on unlined paper which is (2) about friendships and (3) avoids your DNWs in (4) one of your requested fandoms (5) using one of the freeform tags you requested under that fandom. That’s it.
Requests
For each request, you must choose if you wish to receive Fic or Art. You may select both.
You must request at least 3 distinct fandoms (up to 10) and select at least three Freeform Tags in each (for a max of 20 freeform tags). You may repeat fandoms, so long as you have a total of three distinct fandoms overall.
You may, in the Optional Details Box:
- List up to 5 DNWs (Do Not Want/Do Not Write).
- List up to 10 Likes/Prompts.
- If the mod notices you’ve got more DNWs or Likes/Prompts than this during sign-ups, they’ll try and ask you to reduce your optional details to fit the rules. If there’s still excess when signups end, the excess will be deleted.
Offers
For each offer, you must choose if you wish to offer Fic or Art. You may select both.
